"The perfect little get-away in the heart of Wales!"

The huts

Our huts offer luxury comfort against the spectacular backdrop of Snowdonia National Park

Lovingly crafted...

Designed and built by us, the huts have been lovingly crafted and beautifully cared for and are full of charm.

Traditionally, shepherd’s huts were small, and these are no exception, although Richard has designed them to meet the needs of the contemporary Welsh shepherd so they are large enough to accommodate someone well over 6 foot tall – like Richard himself!

Wash Hut...

At first sight this looks just like the other hut but step inside and you’ll immediately see that, in one half of the hut, there’s a really lovely modern bathroom with a hot shower, a jug and bowl for washing and a flushing, caravan style, toilet.

In the other half there’s a fantastic wood-burning sauna – with low and high level benches. Just light the fire, as you would a normal wood burning stove – don’t worry, we can show you how – and in a short while you’ll have a lovely hot sauna to relax you – either at the end of a hard day in the mountains or after an equally hard day relaxing by the river!

The kitchen...

That’s all been thought of too – there’s a fire pit if you feel like lighting a fire and having a good cook out and a well-equipped outdoor kitchen so you can prepare all your meals comfortably.

And if you’re in a hurry to head off for the day, or just don’t feel like lighting the fire, the kitchen has a two-ring gas burner so you can make a quick breakfast or cup of tea and be on your way.

Water & electricity

As you’re off the beaten track, you’re also completely off-grid so there’s no electricity other than electric lights - powered by batteries which are re-charged by solar panels.

This does mean there’s no fridge but we provide you with a cool box and fresh ice blocks every day. The water is our very own spring water, UV-filtered for safety and stored in containers under the huts.

We replenish these as required, and the waste is also stored under the huts and is carried away by us too to be disposed of in their bio-treatment plant – so your presence here will really have minimum impact on this beautiful place.

There’s no mobile signal or wi-fi either – this really is a get away from it all holiday! (Don’t worry - if you’re too tied by work or other commitments, there are mobile and wi-fi hotspots around and we can charge your phone for you!)
